i thought it was a well written article, but i can assure at least from my point of view mr. king expresses some concerns about the environmental review and its speed. and i can say that expedient and complete and thorough are not mutually exclusive, and you can do something and certainly i would expect the same analysis to be every bit as thorough. and this would be the case with any e-i-r, but that does not preclude it from moving in an expedient manner if it can be so done. and the other very interesting article by john wildermuth, very excellent journal on the housing wars, key to city's diversity, that's the title of it. he does talk a little bit the years of protest. it's well written, but a little self-laudatory in that we have a lot of problems, still a city which once had a huge middle class and had lots of families with children and had some of the highest sale prices of anyplace. we have to differentiate. i think these things he mentioned have done a lot of good things, stopping free ways from chopping up the city, shopping another western addition destruction as h

i thank mr. bilirakis. we have worked together on a number of legislative initiatives and i thank him as wls for his service, along with -- as well as his servicers along with chairman king and our democratic ranking member, mr. thompson, for their leadership. it gives me great comfort to be able to come on the floor today and say thank you. even though no one wants to see a homeless hero, a homeless veteran, i spent over the holidays time visiting a number of our centers where homeless veterans are and i can tell you that they are the most giving and charitable persons. many of us will be able to rount on thanksgiving day or depurg -- recount on thanksgiving holiday or during the christmas holiday to be able to serve veterans who unfortunately, not of their own doing, have fallen upon hard times, do not have a place to live and are coming to the various food pantries and food kitchens. it is one of great pleasure to me, not for their condition, but to be able to humbly provide them with a warm meal. this i
